Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has been endorsed for a second term in office by the people of Kwara North Senatorial District.
At town hall meetings convened by political office holders from Kwara North, comprising Moro, Edu, Pategi, Kaiama, and Baruten Local Government Areas, Spokespersons of various organizations, interest groups from the informal and formal sectors, cited the spread of development projects and empowerment schemes across all parts of the state as some of the reasons for their adoption of Governor Ahmed for re-election in 2015.
Speakers at the meeting included representatives of artisans’ congress, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, businessmen and women, youths, among others.
Alhaji Kawu Haliru, the Emir of Lafiagi in Edu Local Government Area of the state, expressed the support of his people to the present government in the state and canvassed additional development projects in Lafiagi and other parts of the region.
The Emir expressed delight that the people of the region were now united behind Governor Ahmed.
Prominent indigenes of the leading lights of the region who attended the meetings included Senator Shaaba Lafiagi, representing Kwara North Senatorial District; Alhaji Aman Pategi, House of Representatives member, business and community leaders from the region, as well as traditional rulers.
With the conclusion of the town hall meetings in Kwara North and Kwara South during which Ahmed was endorse for re-election in 2015, all eyes are now set on Kwara Central Senatorial District town meetings, as political office holders from the region present the state government’s score card and seek a repeat of the endorsements.
