Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasak, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Kwara Central Senatorial District, has urged the Court of Appeal to declare him winner of the March 28 election.

According to him, Senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki, was parading a ‘stolen mandate’.

He also prayed the court to order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold fresh election into the same seat on the ground that the one held on March, 28, 2015 was marred by substantial irregularities and corrupt practices.

Abdulrasak added that the said election did not comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010.

The election tribunal sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, in October dismissed the petition filed against Saraki.

The Chairman of the three-man tribunal, Justice Josiah Majebi upheld his election, agreeing Saraki’s counsel that the petition was incompetent as it was filed outside the stipulated 21 days allowed by the Electoral Act 2010.
