Kwankwaso warns security agencies, religious and traditional leaders to stay out of politics

Kano State governor, Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso, yesterday advised security agencies, traditional rulers and religious leaders not to give the impression that they belong to a political party.

He said this while reacting to alleged partisanship by non-politicians ahead of the 2015 elections.

Speaking when the Kwakwasiya Ambassadors of Nigeria, drawn from the six zones of the federation paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja, the governor also decried the security situation in the country, adding that Nigerians need a leader who can protect the country’s integrity.

“I advise that military to stay clear of politics; they should stay where they are. When traditional rulers, businessmen and clergymen stay clear of politics, that is the only time we can have peace,” he said.

“When they come into politics, others will go against them. My appeal to them is that they must not give impression that they are a political wing of a government or a political party that intends to assume government in the country.”
