Kwankwaso, Tanzanian President, others honoured as African Achievers


For establishing three brand new cities identified as Kwankwasiyya, Amana and Bandirawo in addition to constructing three monumental flyovers, the immediate past Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has clinched an Award of Excellence In Good Governance In Africa.

He received this award at the 2015 Africa Achievers Awards which recently took place at the Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg, South Africa, under the theme: “Africa’s Unity; Challenges & Prospects”.

The serving Senator, was honoured alongside the Chairperson of African Union, AU, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, who won the Award for Leadership in Africa. Also honoured was the Chairperson of African Union, AU, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, who won the Award for Leadership in Africa.

The Women/Leadership Empowerment In Africa award went to Her Excellency, Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett, who is the Convening Founder and Head of Mission of the (AU) African Diaspora Forum. South African politician and anti-apartheid activist, Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma was also honoured at the well-attended event.

James Wood, a Malawian who received the Young Achiever of the year award noted that the award was a testament of the hard work he had put in so far. Noting that it may be a drop in the ocean, he sai, “but it will help me continue the passion and increase the fire burning inside me”.

The organizers of the award who spoke through their Principal Partner, Tonye Rex Idaminabo, said: “through Cooperation, Understanding and Sincerity of Purpose, our leaders can jointly initiate new opportunities for the Peace and Progress of our dear continent – Africa”. He further appreciated VIP Express for partnering to make the event in South Africa a huge Success.
