Koscielny’s late equaliser gives Arsenal point against Manchester City

Laurent Koscielny, who was starting his first game for Arsenal this season, smashed in a late equaliser, as they held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

It was the Gunners, who started brightly, passing the ball around supremely and pinning the hosts back. City’s front pairing of Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero, were starved of the ball, owing to Arsenal’s domination of the midfield, while Gervinho was guilty of spurning a clear chance, after a well weighted Ramsey pass behind the defence.

However, it was City who took the lead shortly before half time. David Silva’s corner kick fell to Joleon Lescott and the England defender, headed past Mannone, who came for the ball and flapped. It was only the second goal Arsene Wenger’s men have conceded this season in the league.

And they responded in the second half, although the game became a bit balanced, with City going for the win.

But it was the Gunners, who got the next goal. Santi Cazorla, whose fierce drive was batted away by Joe Hart, swung in a corner. City failed to clear their lines and Koscielny who volleyed home.

Gervinho and Aguero, had late chances to win the game, but it ended 1-1 at the Etihad.
