Koscielny loses red card appeal, to miss FA Cup final against Chelsea

Arsenal will be without Laurent Koscielny for the FA Cup final against Chelsea, after he lost his appeal against the red card he picked up against Everton last Sunday.

Koscielny was sent off for a reckless lunge on Enner Valencia, during their 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium, by referee Michael Oliver.

The France defender will now serve a three-match ban, which begins with Saturday’s Wembley showdown with champions Chelsea.

“Laurent Koscielny will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after a claim of wrongful dismissal was unsuccessful.

“The Arsenal defender was sent off for serious foul play during the game against Everton on Sunday [21 May 2017],” an FA statement read.

He will also miss the first two matches of the 2017/2018 season.
