KORA 2012: Chidinma, Davido emerge winners

The “Kedike” crooner Chidinma Ekile who made her debut in music after winning the 3rd edition of the MTN project fame was one of the artistes who carried the day at the KORA 2012 which held on Sunday night in Abidjan, the Capital of Ivory-Coast .

Chidinma emerged winner of the Best Female Act award while the Dami Duro crooner, Davido emerged the 2012 Best Male Newcomer award.

You will recall that peter and Paul Okoye, P-Square, were the winners of the last top Kora prize in Ouagadougou in 2010.

Meanwhile, star attraction for KORA 2012, US rapper Chris Brown arrived at the event with singer Rihanna.

R&B star, Brown landed overnight in Abidjan, with Rihanna by his side, wearing dark glasses.

The KORA awards dubbed the “African Grammys”, is an annual event that recognises musical achievements from around the continent.

KORA 2012 was initially set to take place on Saturday, but was delayed at the last minute and postponed to Sunday.

Organiser, Ernest Adjovi initially blamed the delay on Brown missing his flight, but later said heavy rain and other logistical hiccups were behind the postponement.
