Kogi’s suicide: IGP should order discreet investigation – Bishop Emma Isong

The General Overseer of Christian Central Chapel International, Bishop (Dr) EmmaGospel Isong has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to deeply investigate the alleged suicide committed by a level 16 officer in Kogi State, Mr Edward Soje.

Speaking to DAILY POST on Monday, Dr Isong lamented the incident, saying it was unbelievable that a level 16 officer can commit suicide by hanging himself after his wife of 17 years gave birth to a set of male triplets in a private hospital in Abuja.

Dr Isong said it was either the man had psychiatric problem or the man had been killed and the killers showed sign of committing suicide or he discovered that the triplets were not his blood and the wife cheated on him.

“It may be, either, the man has psychiatric problem, the man had been killed by somebody and make it to look like suicide or the man discovered that the triplets are not his blood and may feel cheated by his wife and killed himself.

“There are thousands and one reason which may cause the man to commit suicide, we should not put it on the coming of the triplets alone. Nigerians can stay as long as they can without salaries afterall, the man has been staying for months without salaries.

“11 good months, and in Nigeria, we leave in a communal society, if everybody knows that you have a triplets and you cannot feed them, this one will come with oil, Maggie, cassava, yams, garri etc, Nigerians are happy people.

“I think the issue of suicide in our Nation has become too much and one should not associate it totally on economy, we should look at it in the area of spiritual manipulation, fear of psychological counselling and of course, area of societal pressure.

“In Nigeria, we blame a lot, the birth of the triplets may not be the reason to commit suicide and the non payment of salary for 11 months may not be the reason to commit suicide, they are other reason, the Inspector General of Police should investigate more”, the Clergy appealed.
