Gunmen who kidnapped the Director of Personnel Management, Okenne Local Government Area of Kogi State, Mr. Idowu Adeyemo, have asked for a ransom of N30m before his release, The Punch reports.
According to the report, a member of the victim’s family, Mr. Jude Odofin, in a telephone interview on Friday, said the kidnappers had established contacts with the relatives of the victim and had demanded a ransom of N30m.
Adeyemo was kidnapped by gunmen on Wednesday about 11am while he was driving a Toyota Corolla- 2014 model along Kabba-Okenne road on his way to work.
According to Odofin, the official car of the victim was left behind by the kidnappers.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Collins Adebayo, said he was not aware of the kidnap though, Odofin said the incident had been reported to the police in both Okene and Lokoja.
It will be recalled that Kogi State, especially the Central Senatorial district has become notorious lately for kidnappings. No fewer than 8 people have been kidnapped in the space two weeks. These included the Commissioner of Lands in the state who was rescued by the police yesterday and a High Court Judge whose whereabouts is still unknown.
