A group known as Kogi professionals from the three Senatorial districts of the state has called on the people of the State to vote for the APGA gubernatorial candidate in the November 21st governorship election.
In a statement issued in Abuja immediately after an emergency meeting, which was made available to DAILY POST by its Chairman, Alhaji Omeiza Abdulrasheed, he stressed that the group was convinced that for the state to come out of its current quagmire, it needed an honest person with a focus.
“The state currently is hemorrhaging and the same set of leaders behind this ordeal were back to aid the final collapse of the state, but the only people that could stop them are the Kogites themselves, hence let them think in the line of flag bearer of APGA”, the statement said.
The group said it had monitored Dr Goodman Umar Akwu’s advocacy for good governance for close to a decade, emphasising that a man with such virtues had something in the offing, which was what the State needed for now.
“Dr Goodman Akwu is an activist that has been advocating for good governance in the State; we have watched him close to a decade and such a person has what it takes to govern Kogi State”, he noted.
According to the statement: “The Human and mineral resources of the state remained untapped for so long and that has created unemployment which eventually gave rise to criminality across the three Senatorial districts”.
It also added that the same people that created those problems cannot find solution at this time as they were all out to serve their godfathers at the expense of commoners.
It also warned that the Unity of Kogi State was sacrosanct, hence politicians should stop fanning embers of violence, pointing out that the group will not hesitate in petitioning against any candidates who desperately indulged in unwholesome practices.
