Kogi guber: Faleke picks Audu’s son as running mate while APC meets over Bello

Running mate to the late Abubakar Audu in the November 21 governorship inconclusive election in Kogi State, Mr. Abiodun Faleke has picked the first son of the deceased, Mohammed Audu, as his running mate for the December 5 supplementary election in the state.

This is as his party; the APC, is set to officially present the runner up to Audu in the August 28 APC primary election, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, as its replacement for the late Audu for Saturday’s supplementary election to the public any moment from now at the party’s national secretariat.

Bello came to the APC secretariat with his supporters at about 2.45pm and immediately went into the office of the National Secretary. His supporters were heard chanting his slogan of Sai Yahaya Bello.

Faleke, who is opposed to the supplementary election, on Monday claimed that the party had requested him to nominate a deputy in accordance with the constitutional provision.

Speaking with a gathering of APC members in Kogi State, stressed that Audu’s death has placed a moral burden on him, saying he would fight on until “victory is accomplished”.

Meanwhile, there has been tight security at the National Secretariat of the party ahead of the official announcement with policemen and men of the Directorate of State Security, DSS, on ground to prevent any break down of law and order.

While visitors to the APC secretariat were restricted, news hounds covering the party were subjected to heavy security checks before being allowed into the premises.

The party has until the end of today to officially present its candidate for the supplementary election to INEC.
