Anti-Yahaya Bello protesters on Wednesday protested on the street of Abuja chanting, “Yahaya Bello must go.”
Bello is the current Governor of Kogi State.
Protesters mobilized to the street after information got to them that the Kogi governor was at the National headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Wuse II to purchase his nomination and expression of interest form to contest the gubernatorial election slated for November 16.
DAILY POST spoke with a protester who concealed his name but said: “We don’t want Bello. We have made our it to be known and APC should have taken into consideration the chaos in the state.”
According to him, protesters were never hired by political opponents, but supporters of Kogi APC, adding that they mobilised themselves when it was obvious that the governor would purchase his nomination form on Wednesday.
“Mr. journalist, don’t mind those telling you that politicians hired us to Abuja. We are genuine supporters of APC in Kogi. ”
DAILY POST recalls that over 25 Kogi APC governorship aspirants have rejected the direct form of primaries for aspirants ahead of the primaries slated for August 18.
The pronouncement by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC last week Friday spurred condemnations from stakeholders in the state, saying that the state Executive of the party has unresolved legal issues, adding that indirect primaries would spell doom for the party.
