He, however, pleaded for forgiveness if he had in the course of service to the people stepped on anybody’s toe.

According to the former Governor, his greatest offence during his tenure was his refusal to share federal allocation to the state among some stakeholders, whose interest were not development, but what they wanted to corner for themselves

He recalled that in 2002, Kogi State under Prince Audu was rated the best Governor in Nigeria as he garnered seven prestigious awards given by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), under the close supervision of the Minister of Information, Professor Jery Gana.

Prince Audu promised further that if elected, all pending salaries, pensions and other allowances would be settled.

He advised the workers to be confident that as soon as the APC administration comes on board, their efforts would be rewarded.

According to the former Governor, though he was severally rigged out of elections, the newly introduced card reader machines would definitely checkmate the rigging machines of the PDP.

On the spate of aspirants within the APC, Prince Audu alleged that some of them were sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as spoilers to create confusion in the party.

He asserted that “even if 100 people are contesting, he is very much prepared to face anyone of them”.

Director General, Abubakar Audu Campaign Organisation, Comrade Daniel Isa in his address stated that the drafting of Prince Audu to contest the governorship election was to rescue and restore Kogi State to its lost glory, pointing out that the PDP administration only succeeded in multiplying and distribution of poverty among the people of the state.

In his solidarity speech, a former member of Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Saidu Akawu Salihu disclosed that all the projects and infrastructure executed and put in place by Prince Abubakar Audu during his tenure as Governor were not comparable both in quality and quantity and as such it was time for the people of the state to bring Audu back to power.

The declaration ceremony was witnessed by prominent APC members across the country.
