Kogi East Youth movement on Saturday in Abuja, has urged the state government to embrace those advocating for good governance, rather than seeing them as political enemies.
Raising from one day Roundtable political summit, the youth in a communique explained that there were wrong perceptions that some persons criticising certain policies of Kogi state government were seen as political enemies.
They decried victimization, assaults and arrest of certain persons in the last few months, noting that there could not be development without constructive opposition.
“The political victimization and assaults of political activists should stop. The government should develop a framework aimed at utilizing the constructive criticism of the advocates of good governance”, the communique noted.
They noted that there were adequate mineral resources that could turn the state into a commercial nerve centre of the nation, while calling on the Federal government to look towards the direction in order to grow the nation’s economic base.
While condemning the spate of kidnapping and all forms of criminality in the state, they urged the youth to turn a new leaf so as to become agents of good society.
The summit also encouraged youth in the eastern Senatorial flank to get involved in politics at all levels, to offer innovative ideas that would salvage the current leadership challenges.
“The Kogi East Youth must change their orientation on the wide spread business of kidnapping and remold characters as agents of good society”, the communique emphasized.
