Kogi East Coordinators of Yahaya Bello Campaign Organisation said they did not nominate Mr Gowon Egbunu as replacement for Mr James Faleke as the deputy governor of Kogi State.
The coordinators told a news conference in Lokoja on Tuesday that their purported endorsement of Egbunu as reported by a section of the media was a fraud and that their signatures were forged.
Their spokesman, Mr Paul Enema, said he and his colleagues did not hold any meeting to nominate Egbunu, let alone issuing a communiqué to the media.
“Gowon Egbunu is strange to us. We don’t know him, we did not hold any meeting, let alone issuing a statement to the press’’, Enema emphasised.
According to him, the issue of who becomes Bello’s deputy is beyond the coordinators.
“It is only the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress that can handle it.’’
Enema called on the party’s leadership to take up the matter with security agents for proper investigation and possible prosecution. (NAN)
