Kogi CJ frees 9 prison inmates

The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nasiru Ajanah has released nine prison inmates, while three others were granted bail and one asked to go for medical test.

Justice Ajanah released the inmates when he visited the Koton Karfe prison on Tuesday as part of his annual prison tour.

DAILY POST reports that the Chief Judge during the tour reviewed 125 cases.

Among criminals granted bail are students of Kogi State University, under Political science department Jubril Mikail, Ochene Kizito and Abubakar Teminu.

Others granted freedom are: Ahmed Tijani, Abu Aliyu, Ochefeje Alhaji, John Okonkwo, Lawal Gambo,Ibrahim Daji, Battai Daji, and Abdulmim Musa.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy has been asked to go for a medical test after being reported to have killed an Hausa mate.

The Chief Justice, however, advice them to be of good character as they regained their freedom.

The prison controller in charge of Koton Karfe prison Alhaji Ohakosin Mahachy pleaded with the Chief Justice to help them appeal to the State Governor to use his power in releasing some other inmates in the prison.
