Some All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters, Saturday protested against the choice ofas the replacement to Prince Abubakar Audu, the late flag bearer of the party.

Abubakar Audu’s supporters are angered over the decision of the party to field Yahaya Bello as the replacement ahead of the supplementary governorship election.

Itobe bridge, which is the link between Kogi East and the rest of the state, was blocked by a group of persons claiming to be sympathetic to the Abubakar Audu family.

The group demanded that Audu’s son should be made to replace his father as the flag bearer of the party.

The protesting groups accused Bello of being a “traitor”, alleging that he worked against the party throughout the period of campaigns and that he collected millions of naira from the opposing party on the eve of the election to ensure its victory.

Also, Igala Youths blocked Lokoja – Ayingba road, causing a lot of hardship to motorists.

At Koton Karfe local government, it was reported that youths blocked the Abuja – Lokoja road.

“It is surprising that the National secretariat of APC could adopt a PDP loyalist as a replacement to Abubakar Audu,” an APC loyalist from Koton Karfe complained.

Meanwhile, Lokoja township has been quite since the reported resolve of the APC to replace Audu with Bello, as many have refrained from making comments on the matter.
