A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi State, Dr Goodman Akwu has advised Senator Dino Melaye to sheath his sword and desist from attacking APC leader, Bola Tinubu but work for the interest of the party that brought him to the National Assembly.
In the statement, which was contained in a press release made available to DAILY POST in Abuja on Sunday, Goodman who was a former Secretary of the defunct state ACN, urged Melaye of conducting himself in a manner that promotes party supremacy so as to coordinate party ideals at all levels.
“Party supremacy best promotes party ideals, thus it should be respected so as to coordinate ideals at all levels”, the statement said.
He recalled that Senator Melaye has benefited from Tinubu’s contribution to the party’s victory at the polls, noting that if not for Tinubu’s intervention at party primaries, he would have lost to Sam Aro, a business mogul, who deployed resources heavily to capture party ticket.
“Let me remind Senator Melaye that it was Tinubu’s intervention that secured him party ticket, otherwise he would have lost to Sam, who sponsored the party well”, he noted.
According to the statement, the ruling party had drawn a template for emergence of NASS leaders before the confusion that produced Ike Ekweremadu of PDP, which drew ire of the APC leadership, only for Melaye to single out Tinubu for castigation.
The statement added that Senator Melaye, who was running errands for Tinubu during electioneering campaign had suddenly turned against him, thereby biting the hands that fed him.
“I do know that Dino was running errands for Tinubu during the just concluded elections, so why is he biting the hands that fed him now?”, he asked.
He noted that if Senator Melaye was doing such in order to be favoured with a juicy committee, he should understand that the party that brought him to the Senate remains sacrosanct.
