Klopp reveals Dortmund players applauded Reus over new deal

Klopp-Reus-Dortmund players

Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp, has revealed that members of the team applauded Marco Reus, after the forward signed a contract extension with the club.

The 25-year-old was expected to leave the Bundesliga club this summer, especially with his previous deal containing a €25million buy-out clause, which attracted big clubs in Spain and England.

Instead, the German has committed his future to BVB until the summer of 2019.

“I am really happy he came to his decision,” Klopp said at a press conference.

“Marco is very relaxed now, very free. Ideally we can convert this into a performance. There was even applause in the dressing room which I thought was pretty cool. Ideally this will happen at the stadium, too.

“I am not only happy Marco decided for us, I am happy he decided for us this early. That was important to us. It was a decision on a joint future. I am glad he receives the recognition he deserves.”
