Killings in Nigeria: What IG of Police said in Taraba

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has given assurance that the police will do everything possible to provide the much-needed security to Nigerians.

He gave the assurance on Tuesday during the inauguration of a Mobile Police Squadron in Takum, Taraba.

Idris stressed that the police, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, were more determined, better equipped and trained to detect as well as diligently prevent crimes.

The police boss further urged Nigerians to be conscious of security issues in their communities and report any suspicious activity.

According to him, the timely report of such threats is necessary to enable security personnel to forestall the activities of criminals in the society.

The IGP, however, enjoined officers and men of the force to rededicate themselves to their constitutional duty of protecting lives and property of Nigerians and foreigners resident in the country.

Idris also called for diligence among the personnel to enable them to effectively fight crimes to their barest minimum.

”If the officers and men of the force were genuinely busy protecting lives and property of other people in the larger society without getting involved in unwholesome practices, God would also bless and protect such members, as well as their families”, NAN quoted him as saying.

Idris advised them to further rededicate themselves in the service of their fatherland, exhibit discipline, be upright in their official conduct and obey lawful orders.

“You should always be courageous, prayerful, shun unwholesome acts capable of tarnishing your names, families and that of the Nigeria Police.

“Be loyal to the country and constituted authority and make sure you always obey lawful orders and be prayerful at all times for Allah’s protection and blessings,” he added.
