Nigeria’s former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has expressed worry over the mass protests organised on Tuesday by the Catholic church in parts of the country.

On Tuesday, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi could not hold back tears while attending the mass burial of two Catholic priests, Rev. Fathers Joseph Gor, Felix and 15 others in Benue state.

The Catholic priests and parishioners were among those killed by gunmen believed to be herdsmen during an attack on communities in Gwer East LGA of the state last month.

Reacting to the protests, Atiku took to his Twitter handle to send condolences to victims of the killings.

He wrote, “It gets worrisome when the catholic church has to take to the street to protest the killing of its parishioners, government must stem the killings. My heart goes out to the victims.”
