Killer bandits: Gov. Yari speaks on army’s launch of military operation in Zamfara

Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state has described the launching of operation Harbin KUNAMA by the Nigerian army as a welcome development, saying that with the Harbin KUNAMA to complement operation Sharan Daji, the state would soon overcome its security concerns.

The Governor, who spoke through his media aide, Hon. Magaji Dosara, said the spate of killings and kidnappings in the state has forced the business community to desert the state for the fear of the mayhem rocking the entire state.

He lamented that notorious armed bandits and kidnappers have seriously disrupted the legitimate endeavours of the law-abiding citizens of the state.

“It is very obvious that commerce has totally gone down as a result of the unholy activities of the armed bandits and kidnappers who are been sponsored by the elite in the state,” he said.

It could be recalled that last year the governor made it clear to the whole world that he was no longer the chief security officer of the state due to the dastardly activities of bandits that have proved unsolvable by both the state and federal governments.

According to the Governor, both the state and federal governments have committed a lot of resources and logistics supports to quell the ugly development that has sparked a ravaging fire that almost consumed the state.

Governor Yari noted that the Chief of Army Staff, LT Gen.Tukur Yusuf Buratai initiated a very perfect idea to end the unholy syndicates of the blood thirsty and unrepentant elements in the society.

He assured that the state government would continue to provide logistics supports to the security agencies and civilian Joint Task Force, saying that the state government had concluded arrangement to employ another 1700 civilian joint task force to complement the efforts of the security agencies in the state.

He noted that the civilian joint task force were not expected to carry guns or ammunition but to lead the security operatives to the dark spots where the notorious armed bandits and kidnappers are camping.

Governor Yari urged the general public to always give useful information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of all heinous crimes that he said have become a pastime of bandits in the state.

He noted that the armed bandits and kidnappers are not spirits but humans who mingle with people, eat with people and live with people in the same environment, saying that the armed bandits intend to wipe out Zamfara state from the map of Nigeria.
