Kidnappers release Zamfara lawmaker’s son

A son of the member representing Maradun/Bakura Federal constituency of Zamfara State, Alhaji Yahaya Chado has been released by his abductors.

Recalls that Muhammad Yahaya and his elder brother Junaidu Yahaya were abducted by gunmen on Jan. 22 at their home in Gora village, Maradun Local Government Area.

The gunmen also killed six and wounded four other persons on their way out of the village.

However, the abductors released Muhammad about two hours later with a mobile phone number on which they demanded N10 million as ransom to release Junaidu.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Muhammad Shehu, on Wednesday confirmed to NAN that Junaidu’s was released on Tuesday.

“We are not aware of the payment of any amount as ransom to secure the release of the victim”.

He added Junaidu has been taken to the Police Headquarters in Gusau for debriefing.

“We are hoping to get to the hideout of the criminals,” Shehu said.
