Kidnappers of Bayelsa monarch demand N17m ransom


A 17m ransom has been demanded by the abductors of the traditional ruler of the Ikeighenbiri community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Chief Collins Adikoko.

It was gathered that Chief Collins Idoko, was kidnapped two weeks ago at about 2am from his house.

The traditional ruler’s abductors who were over six in number, on their arrival at the Chiefs resident shot sporadically into the air.

According to a resident who witnessed the incident, the armed men arrived Chief Collins Idoko’s residence in the wee hours of Saturday on Civil Defence uniform.

They kidnappers before whisking the traditional ruler away shot sporadically into the air before escaping with the monarch into a waiting speedboat.

A family member of the victim confirmed the ransom demanded by the abductors, saying the ransom was made after series of phone calls, adding that the demand has not been made known to security operatives yet.
