Kidnappers may release Lagos Council boss Bamigbetan today

Strong indications have emerged that the abducted Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, may regain his freedom from the hands of his abductors today.

Information made available to DailyPost on Thursday revealed that the family had been in contact with Bamigbetan’s abductors and had been pleading with them to release the Chairman.

A source within the family, who pleaded anonymity said, “We have a family negotiator who has been talking to the kidnappers to have a rethink and release our breadwinner.

“The negotiator has assured us that we should be prepared to receive him (Bamigbetan) at a yet-to-be disclosed location over the weekend.

“As we talk, the kidnappers are getting in touch with the family which has kept the hope of the family alive. We pray and sincerely hope that the abductors will keep their promise.

“It is obvious they are not assassins, they are only after money. We thank God for that and every effort is on to meet their demands.

“This is all I can say for now.”

Meanwhile, the state police command said it was not aware of any discussion between the family and Bamignetan’s abductors.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Damascus Ozoani, said, “I am not aware of any of such development.

He said, “What I can tell you now is that the police is still investigating the incident.”

Honourable Bamigbetan was abducted by gunmen who whisked him away while returning home from an event on Monday.
