It was indeed a breath of fresh air for the three Korean nationals who were abducted by eight gunmen in Bayelsa State as they regained their freedom on Friday.

Jong Ken, Hi Kim, Doo Lee and Joon Chae were freed at about 9pm on Friday after a hot argument ensued amongst the kidnappers in their den.

Dailypost earlier reported that the foreigners were whisked away from their working site at Hyndai Fabrication Company, in Okpoama, Brass Local Government Area of the state. The heavily armed men invaded the company, bundled their victims; three Koreans and one Nigerian and sped off on boats.

However, the kidnapped Nigerian, Austin Giwa was released two days after their abduction while the foreigners were held hostage in the mangrove swamps.

The men of the Special Police unit in the state codenamed, Operation Door-Akpor found the victims at Azikoro Village in Yenagoa after they were dumped by the kidnappers.

Reacting to the latest development, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kingsley Omire said, “From the brief that I have, there was a disagreement among the kidnappers who decided to release their victims.

“They brought them to Azikoro Village and I directed Operation Doo-Akpor to go and pick them up. They were not released by any security agency.”

The Police boss also said that two persons had been arrested in connection with the incident while thorough investigations are still in progress to bring the remaining culprits to book.
