The Oniba of Iba, Lagos State, Oba Yushau Oseni, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen has regained his freedom.

The 74-year-old first class traditional ruler was abducted from his palace on Saturday, July 16 at about 8 pm.

The kidnappers had demanded the sum of N500 million ransom which was later reduced to N40million, but the victim’s family members insisted they could not afford it.

Oseni, however, was set free on Saturday; although it wasn’t ascertained if the ransom was paid.

Confirming his release, the Commissioner of Police, CP, Fatai Owoseni said the monarch has since been united with his family and subjects, adding that the leader of the kidnap syndicate has been arrested.
