Mrs Okwuchi, a lecturer working with the agriculture department of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, who was kidnapped on Saturday has regained her freedom.
The lecturer was abducted at the Nkwo Umunze market square where she had driven her Toyota Camry car to make some purchases.
The gunmen accosted her and shot in the air, causing traders in the market to scamper for safety, while she was taken away.
Her car was left in the market.
The Anambra State police spokesperson, SP Haruna Mohammed told DAILY POST that the kidnapped lecturer was released on Tuesday morning, and that the command was working to unravel those behind the act and bring them to book.
He, however, refused to disclose the details of her release.
But a source in Umunze said Mrs Okwuchi was freed after she coughed out an undisclosed sum as ransom.
“Yes, she has been released. As at yesterday evening, she was still calling her friends to raise money for her release,” our source said.
