Kidnapped Adamawa perm sec released

The Permanent Secretary of the Adamawa State Ministry of Mineral Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Piridimso, who was kidnapped last week, has been released.

A source close to the family who spoke on the development, could however, not disclose what was paid to the kidnappers before they released the man.

“After the payment of ransom, the kidnappers released him near Bagale hills and gave him N1,000 to transport himself home.

“He trekked all the way to Viniklang where he got a motorcycle that finally conveyed him home,” the source told DAILY POST.

Meanwhile, the state police command which on Sunday confirmed Mr Piridimso’s freedom, attributed it to efforts of officers and men of the force.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, told our correspondent on phone Sunday afternoon, “I told you earlier when the man was abducted that the commissioner of police deployed a special unit to trail the abductors. They released the man when they knew that we were hot on their trail.”

He said the command remained on the trail of the kidnappers in an effort to bring them before the law.

The permanent secretary was abducted at 3:20am on Wednesday at his residence in Clerck Quarters, Jimeta, Yola.

His abductors later demanded a N25 million ransom.
