The Bauchi State Police Command says it has rescued a 15-year-old girl who was abducted by two middle-aged men in the State.
The kidnappers, Suleiman Yahaya, 23, and 26-year-old Kamalu Abdullahi were said to have abducted the 15-year-old girl on July 3, at about 4:50pm and whisked her to an unknown destination where she was raped.
Confirming the arrest to journalist, the state Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed, said the suspects had confessed to the crime.
He said: “You may recall that on July 3, 2015, at about 4:50pm, unknown persons kidnapped a 15- years-old girl and took her to unknown destination.
“The kidnappers apprehended were identified as Suleiman Yahaya, 23, of Wunti and Kamalu Abdullahi male, 26, of Bakaro ward, Bauchi. They were apprehended, following investigations by the command.
“The suspects, who confessed to kidnapping the girl, admitted that they also had unlawful carnal knowledge of their victim.”
The police spokesman noted that the victim after been rescued was rushed to the hospital for medical examination and it was confirmed that she was raped.
He added that the police recovered a Sim card and handset used by the kidnappers in contacting the parents of the victim, and a cable wire they used to tie her.
Mohammed disclosed that the kidnappers will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
