Amir Khan’s hopes of landing a mega-fight received a boost last weekend, after Argentine slugger Lucas Matthysse was flattened in a Los Angeles ring.
As a result of this, he was also knocked out of contention as Manny Pacquiao’s comeback opponent next year.
Khan had been left frustrated in his pursuit of both Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Following Mayweather’s retirement last month, he has now switched his attentions to the Filipino boxer.
Pacquiao is however undergoing treatment for the shoulder injury, which hampered him against Mayweather in May.
Negotiations for Khan to take on Pacquiao will begin early next year.
