The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its Katsina State governorship candidate in the March 9 elections, Yakubu Lado, have formally filed a petition before the election petitions tribunal.
They are challenging the emergence of incumbent Governor Aminu Masari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner in the fiercely-contested polls.
PDP’s case was filed during the weekend to beat the April 1, 2019 deadline for filing petitions before the election tribunal.
Counsel to the party, Gordy Uche (SAN) told reporters that his clients were challenging the victory and educational qualifications of Governor Masari
Also speaking, the deputy governorship candidate and state chairman of the PDP, Salisu Majigiri said, “We appeal to our teeming supporters to continue to be law abiding and to pray for the party to emerge victorious.”
DAILY POST reports that Governor Masari, the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, are respondents in the petition filed before the election tribunal headed by Justice H. Kereng.
