Former Super Eagles star, Kanu Nwankwo, has praised Taiwo Awoniyi over his hot form and says the youngster has all it takes to become a major football star.
The 18-year-old striker helped the Nigeria U-20 side win gold, at the 2015 African Youth Championship in Senegal and scored a brace last weekend, as Nigeria’s U-23 squad qualified for the All-Africa Games.
Kanu, who is a big fan of Awoniyi, stated that the player needs to remain consistent.
“Watched him play for U17/U20 and talked to him, our hottest kid and if he keeps doing his best, he will be a star. AWONIYI,” Kanu wrote on Twitter.
Awoniyi is expected to lead the Flying Eagles’ attack at the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship, which kicks off next month in New Zealand.
