Kano Pillars have put five players in the transfer window, ahead of the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

This was confirmed by the club’s spokesman, Idris Malikawa, who explained that they were released because of poor performance, while others were allowed to leave on “medical ground”.

“Kano Pillars has sent five of its players into the transfer market,” Malikawa stated.

“The players were declared surplus to requirement based on the recommendations of the technical crew. The affected players did not perform well last season while some were dropped on medical ground.”

The four-time champions refused to reveal the names of the players. However, according to SuperSport, the affected players would have to look for new clubs, who will now negotiate with Kano Pillars for their exit before they are handed their clearance papers.

It is believed that two strikers, two defenders and a midfielder are the five listed for transfer by the Kano club.
