Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved the appointment of 36 permanent secretaries in an acting capacity.
A terse statement at the weekend signed by the Head of Civil Service (HOCS), Mohammad Auwal Naiya, directed all “acting permanent secretaries to report to government house for administrative brief”.
However, three additional offices of the permanent secretaries have been created.
This came three weeks after 33 permanent secretaries were sacked.
It would be recalled of the number of those relieved of their appointment, 12 were re-absorbed after a screening exercise.
Prior to the appointment, 160 applicants, including the ousted permanent secretaries directors on level 16, applied for the 33 slots.
Announcing the sack of the former officials, a statement signed by Auwalu Muhammad Naiya, spokesman to the HOCS, said the decision was “in line with the resolve to vigorously implement the regime initiatives embarked upon since its inception, and cognizant of the need to further ensure greater efficiency in service, as well as reinvigorate the top echelons of the civil service”.
“All, enjoined sacked officials, and any interested Director to reapply/ apply for the vacant post by attaching their curriculum vitae.”
