Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Boss, Muhuyi Magaji, on Wednesday appealed to the judiciary to support the commission to enable it meet its mandate.
Magaji, who made the call at a news conference in Kano, also apologized for his recent actions against the arm of government.
Magaji had a lingering battle with the High Court sitting in Gezawa over alleged transfer of N100 million from state-local government joint account from a Micro-finance bank to one of the commercial banks in the state.
In reaction, the court presided by Justice Muhammad Yahya, on Friday, July 6, ordered immediate arrest of the chairman for alleged contempt.
But Magaji begged the judiciary and any other person that might have been offended by the recent happenings between the commission and a high court Judge in the state.
He said: “In the interest of peace and stability, I wish to without prejudice to the power and function of the commission apologise to the judiciary and any other person that may have been offended by my statements.
“Though not excusable, all that was credited to me was not out of disrespect to the judiciary but due to the honest and ardent need to ensure that justice was meted out.
“All that has happened is highly regretted and I take full responsibility of the action.
“The recent development soured the relationship between judiciary and the commission. It is our believe that judiciary does not need Anti-corruption Commission for its survival but the commission needs the judiciary to operate and above all, the society needs both for development”.
