Kajuru attack: 130 persons killed in Kaduna, not 66 – El-Rufai

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday said that the death toll in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state has risen to 130 persons.

DAILY POST had reported that a statement issued and signed by Senior Special Assistant to Governor Nasir El Rufai, on Friday, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, said security agencies reported the recovery of 66 bodies that were killed in attacks by criminal elements on various dispersed hamlets in the Maro Gida and Iri axis of Kajuru LGA.

According to him, ” The settlements affected include Ruga Bahago, Ruga Daku, Ruga Ori, Ruga Haruna, Ruga Yukka Abubakar, Ruga Duni Kadiri, Ruga Shewuka and Ruga Shuaibu Yau.

But speaking on Tuesday, El-Rufai, while addressing State House correspondents after a meeting with some northern governors, President Buhari and service chiefs, said that based on the security briefings he received, the actual number of those killed was 130 and not 66.

Describing those doubting the killings as grossly irresponsible El- Rufai said, “only insensitive people can recklessly dismiss the deaths of members of a community with whom they have no contact.”

“The latest report shows that over 130 were killed, not even 66.”

El- Rufai added that security operatives have arrested more suspects linked to the attack.
