Two persons have been reportedly killed in an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the early hours of Tuesday in Ninte village, Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State.
DAILY POST gathered that the attack was carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen who stormed the village and started shooting sporadically, leading to the killing of the two people and the destruction many valuables.
The Interim Management committee Chairman of Jema’a local government area, Dr Bege Katuka, who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with our reporter said, “Two persons lost their lives while several properties, including houses were burnt down as a result of the attack.”
According to him, “The gunmen invaded the Community at about 2am on Tuesday, shooting sporadically and set ablaze many houses. Before the security operatives could get to the area, it was about 4 to 5am in the morning.”
Dr. Bege disclosed that most of the villagers have deserted the village for safety, disclosing that security operatives had been deployed in the area to calm the situation.
He assured, “Government is putting drastic measures to ensure that the perpetual act come to an end. We will ensure that lives and property of our people are secured as it is government’s primary responsibility.”
The Chairman advised the youths in the area not to take laws into their hands and discard any form of reprisal attack.
Meanwhile, one of our sources could confirm to us that the villagers, including women and children in their number could be sighted leaving for neighboring villages with their belongings in fear of further attack by the suspected Fulani herdsmen.
