About 458 suspected criminals who were said to be terrorising residents of Kaduna State were yesterday paraded by the State Police Command as they were arrested for various offences.

It was learnt that 27 out of the 458 suspects paraded before newsmen by the Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Mr. Ballah M. Nasarawa, were arrested in connection to kidnapping as well as other crimes carried out in the State.

The Inspector General of police, Solomon Arase had recently strengthened security in the state due to increasing cases of abductions and other vices.

Speaking to Journalists at the Police officers mess in Kaduna, AIG Nasarawa who led a high powered team of policemen comprising the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Special Protection Units (SPU), the Intelligence Response Unit (IRU) and the Forensic and Crime Data Unit (FCDU) all from the Force headquarters Abuja, revealed that the 458 suspects were apprehended for various crimes of kidnapping, armed robbery and car snatching.

The AIG reinstated the police’ commitment in weeding out miscreants from Kaduna State, adding that the feat was achieved based on the renewed campaigns to get rid of all miscreants in Kaduna State.

The AIG said, “You will recall that I addressed you on 7/4/2016 after the Inspector General of Police directed me to relocate to Kaduna and address the seeming security issues and concerns raised in certain quarters in the state. ”

While charging the officers in the state to put more efforts to make Kaduna free of criminals and crime, he said, “My second mandate is to re-organise the command for effective policing in the state.”
