Kaduna: Kidnapped staff of Shehu Idris College of Health Science and Technology regain freedom

The three staff of the Shehu Idris College of Health Science and Technology, Makarfi, who were kidnapped in Kaduna State on Monday, have been freed.

The college staff, Mr. Elisha Damina Akau, Director School of Dental Science, Rabi’at Malami Dogo and Halima Rilwan, were said to have been kidnapped while returning from Teejay Palace Hotel in GRA, Zaria where they had attended their board examination meeting.

A text message by the Sole Administrator of the College, Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyu to our reporter read, “Please, be informed that the three kidnapped staff of Shehu Idris College of Health Science and Technology Makarfi were released at about 8pm on Tuesday.

“I, the Administrator of the College negotiated with the kidnappers and they released them to me.”

Report had it that the vehicle belonging to the kidnapped staff was seen abandoned between Tashar Yari and the college site with one tyre punctured.

The statement didn’t disclose if ransom was paid before their release.

Meanwhile, several phone calls put to the State Police Public Relations Officer to ascertain the report were not responded.
