Plans are underway by the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company to supply electricity to Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company’s (KRPC) quarters and water treatment plant.
This was part of the strategic business partnership agreed upon by the two companies during a courtesy visit by the Kaduna Electric on KRPC.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Garba Haruna, who led top management of Kaduna Electric, disclosed that the company was on the mission of identifying and harnessing the potentials available at KRPC.
According to Engr. Haruna, the Kaduna Electric had the capacity to distribute 700 megawatts of electricity in its franchise but its current allocation from the national grid was just about 200 megawatts.
He also revealed that the new management of the company was working tirelessly to reduce the average technical, commercial and collection losses (ATC&C), which he put at about fifty per cent as at the time they took over the company in December last year.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Managing Director of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company, Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed disclosed that KRPC was one of the major hydro-carbon processing plants in the country.
According to Mohammed, the plant had both the traditional and unique refining capacities.
He applauded the visit, saying that it shall trigger further discussion and business relationship between the two companies.
High point of the visit was the constitution of a joint technical working group to study the needs and potentials of the two organizations that could be beneficial to the two parties.
