The Management of College of Education, Gidan Waya, Kaduna State on Tuesday ordered immediate closure of the institution following violent protest by students over alleged increase in tuition fees

A statement issued and signed Tuesday by Danladi Aduwu, Ag. Head of Information/Public Relation of the college said the school would remain close till further notice.

According to him, “The decision was to ensure protection of lives and property, and urged all students to vacate the college premises with immediate effect.”

DAILYPOST learnt that the protest was led by 300 level students who felt the planned shift in exams date from November 31 would not be favourable to them

The students who alleged that the shift in semester examination was to increase tuition fees, went on rampage, destroyed school furniture, windows and other property before the intervention of security operatives.

Already, security operatives have been deployed to the school in order to prevent further damages.
