Justice Onnoghen: Gov. Tambuwal reacts to Buhari govt’s plan to remove CJN

The Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has reacted to emerging reports of planned removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen.

The Governor warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to undermine the nation’s democracy, advising him to respect the rule of law and the separation of power.

Tambuwal was reacting to the report that Onnoghen will be arranged on Monday by Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT on false assets declaration charges.

He spoke in Bodinga during the PDP Gubernatorial campaign in the zone on Saturday.

Tambuwal, said ”I pray and hope and wish that what I read online today is not true, that they are trying to give CJN the Bukola Saraki treatment.

“I am appealing to president Muhammadu Buhari to steer clear of it. I believe whatever it is the CJN should be given a fair hearing.

”I believe this is why APC is worried that they will lose the election, reasons why the president refuse to sign the electoral act as passed by the National Assembly recently.

”President Buhari is only trying to truncate our democracy. He should be honourable enough to accept defeat,” he stated.
