Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary to pick its flagbearer in the December 5 Bayelsa governorship election, some elders, women group, youths in the state have thrown their weight behind former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Timi Alaibe.
They also urged former governor, Timipre Sylva to step down for Alaibe, who they said did not have enough grassroot support to unseat Governor Seriake Dickson.
The group, under the auspices of Concerned Bayelsa Stakeholders for Good Governance and led by Ebitimi Jonathan, alleged that Sylva had earlier failed them, hence the need to give a fresh hand an opportunity,
Ebitimi insisted that Alaibe remained the best person for the job, adding that he possessed qualities of a good leader.
“Alaibe has not been tested. Like President Muhammadu Buhari, who tried four times before Nigerians gave him their mandate, Alaibe should be given the opportunity to steer the ship of the state,” he said.
