An unidentified man in his 30s was on Tuesday morning burnt to death by an angry mob in Urua Ekpa Junction in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

The suspect met his waterloo after making away with a bike parked in front of a fuel station, few kilometers from AKBC Transmitting Station, Ntak Inyang.

Before operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, could arrive the scene, the mob had already poured petrol on the suspect and burnt him beyond recognition.

Confirming the incident, Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Odiko MacDon described the jungle justice as unfortunate.

“We advise people to always report criminal matters to the police instead of taking the law in their hands,” DSP Odiko added.
