A case seeking to stop the Commission of Inquiry on election motivated violence and killings in Rivers State has suffered a setback before a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.

The matter was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, which challenged the setting up of the panel by Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

However, hearing could not be entertained on the matter, as Justice H. A. Ngajinwa who is presiding over the case was indisposed.

The matter was subsequently adjourned to May 13 for hearing.

The Commission of Inquiry is headed by Professor Chidi Odinkalu and its terms of reference include establishing the circumstances of politically motivated violence in Rivers State; identify the perpetrators and their sponsors; and recommending appropriate remedies to avoid recurrence.
