It was a galore of jubilation as the PDP was declared winner of the Anambra governorship election at Amatutu polling unit, Agulu 2, located just in front of the home of the former governor, Mr Peter Obi. The presiding officer announced the result as follows; APC; five votes, APGA 40 votes, UPP; one vote, PDC; two votes, while PDP secured a whooping 145 votes from the polling unit.
Voters in the unit, consisting mainly of women erupted in wild jubilation over the result upon its announcement.
Our correspondent gathered that the reason for the jubilation was because Governor Obiano had allegedly mobilised funds to the unit in the hope of buying up votes to humiliate his arch rival, Mr Peter Obi.
One of the voters who simply gave her name as Mrs Jelena said, “They were here, distributing money to our people in the hope that they can buy us, but our people took their money and still voted for PDP.
” This has shown that Peter Obi remains the master in this area. We have humiliated APGA. ”
Our correspondent gathered that voting which was supposed to end at 2pm was extended by one hour in most places because of the delay in the commencement of voting.
Sorting, counting and announcement of result have also commenced in most polling units in the state.
The former governor was, however, not on ground, as he was said to have left immediately after voting.
Meanwhile, Chief Victor Umeh, former national chairman of APGA has also won his polling unit by a huge margin, humiliating both APC and PDP.
APGA in Aguluzoigbo town hall polling unit 001 and 002 polled 515 to beat PDP – 21, APC – 65.
