JTF kills four Boko Haram members in Yobe during raid on hideouts


During a raid carried out on one of the Boko Haram hideouts in Yobe town of Gashua yesterday, the military Joint Task Force (JTF) killed four Boko Haram gunmen and got 4 others arrested.

The Task Force during a raid in the early hours of the day successful recovered some arms and ammunition from the militants including three AK 47 rifles and 42 rounds of ammunition.

Briefing Journalists on the raid and arrests in Damaturu, the JTF spokesman Lt. Lazarus Eli said that at about 5am on Tuesday, men of the security task force raided a suspected terrorist’s hideout in Gashua town of Bade Local Government Area of Yobe state.

He said the raid was based on a tip-off that some of the terrorists that operated in Potiskum and Fika had relocated to Gashua to launch attacks and bombings on civilian and military targets.

He said: “During the JTF raid which was initially faced with resistances from the terrorists, our men overcome their resistance with superior fire power and killed four suspects with the arrests of four other suspects.”

Eli further disclosed that the arms and ammunition recovered in the raiding of terrorists’ hideout include three Kalashnikov rifles, 42 rounds of ammunition, three magazines, a Thuraya hanset, two laptops, a blood pressure gauge, 21 wrist watches, 13 handsets, a CD player and 18 SIM cards.
