JTF kills 3 Boko Haram members, arrests 31 others after gun duel

Colonel Sagir Musa

Men of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) on Wednesday killed three members of the Islamist sects, Boko Haram after a gun duel that lasted for some minutes in Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

JTF image-maker, Mr. Sagir Musa said one of the soldiers was killed during the fire exchange while 31 members of the fundamentalist were arrested in the Bulabulin Ngarnam area of the volatile city.

Musa said: “In an exchange of fire, one soldier was killed, one injured and one immigration personnel missing in action.”

“Three Boko Haram terrorists were killed, 31 suspected Boko Haram terrorists were arrested, one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle and some quantity of assorted magazines and ammunition were recovered,” he added.

It was reported earlier this week that no fewer than 3,000 persons have been killed in series of attacks linked to the Boko Haram’s activities since 2009.

The dreaded sect had once affirmed that for peace to reign in Nigeria, Christians must all convert to Islam. However, the group on Tuesday said it was ready to dialogue with the federal government after the initial move crumbled.
