“Despite the situation of things, we are aware that your staff take their salaries before the end of every month. This is highly commendable. When your staff recieve their salaries promptly, they will be happy, and when they are happy, we at the NUJ will be happy too”, Salami said.

She assured the media organisation of her commitment to staff welfare and training, urging them to identify with her aspiration to enable them have full benefits of being members of a union under the leadership of a professional Journalist.

While presenting souvenirs on behalf of management and staff of Daily Post to Salami and her entourage, the Editor, Ali Adoyi, extolled the leadership of NUJ in FCT for living up to its name.

Adoyi recalled how the Secretary of Council facilitated training of DAILY POST staff amongst other Journalists at the European Union and the role she played when a reporter was recently detained by the Police, urging her to continue to carry the online media along, when elected.

In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Editor, Sylvester Ugwuanyi, lauded the Secretary of Council for her selfless service to the union in the past 3 years, adding that, with Yemi Itodo, a staff of Daily Post in charge of the Correspondent chapel of NUJ and Salami as Chairman of Council, the union would soar high in the next 3 years.
